2019 Wrap Up Newsletter

The domain of information and communication technology is constantly evolving, thus a new profile of telecom engineer is needed by today’s labour market: a professional trained in the broad ICT domain and who, in addition to the technical skills, can demonstrate also entrepreneurial abilities in order to contribute to the techno-economic society challenges. Project BENEFIT aims at making ICT study programs in the Wester Balkan region more attractive thus boost the telecom engineer profile by:

A) cooperation between Western Balkan universities and industry to modernize the study programs in telecommunications engineering;

B) adoption of modern teaching methodologies and tools, upgrade of the infrastructure, and the creation of joint university-industry labs;

C) the implementation of trainings for both teachers and students.

Furthermore, to increase the level of cooperation, visibility and sustainable opportunities the project has developed an integrated e-platform that gives access to class material for e-learning, training/internships in the region, listing of universities and companies, employment opportunities, and events of both technical nature and accessible to the general public.

Training & Mobility Opportunities

  • In the framework of the Ericsson Nikola Tesla (ENT) Summer Camp 13 students from the Universities of Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Belgrade, Niš and Novi Sad had the opportunity to attend a five week workshop whose main objectives were project work in teams and solving real industrial problems in an industrial environment
  • During Cisco Summer School in September 2019 students from the Universities of Banja Luka, Tuzla, Sarajevo, Niš, Novi Sad and Belgrade attended various courses mainly focused on IoT
  • Training workshop for teachers in Klagenfurt, Austria on July 8-12, 2019

In the next semester following project activities will take place:

  • Professional teacher training modules for teaching staff members in Osijek, Sarajevo and Niš
  • Cisco Summer School and ENT Summer Camp for students
  • Student mobility from the Universities of Sarajevo and Tuzla to Klagenfurt for three months
  • Webinar on studying telecommunications engineering hosted by University of Belgrade

Next events:

  • Teacher training on “ICT in teaching practices” in Osijek hosted by J.J. Strossmayer University of Osijek – Feb. 12 and 13, 2020
  • Teacher training module in Sarajevo in April 2020
  • Open Event in Novi Sad, June 2020
  • Wrap-up meeting in Klagenfurt in Summer 2020
